The piece
The detail behind the silhouette
The hem is the design decision here. Straight across the front and dropping into a longer curve at the back gives the shirt the line of a proper untucked shirt rather than a boxy pyjama top, and it is the reason this set can be worn around the house without looking like sleepwear.
Pinstripe reinforces that, bringing a tailored quality to a fabric that is genuinely soft cotton. Rolling the sleeves changes the look again, more deliberate and less thrown-on, though it works either way. The shorts underneath are kept simple so the shirt does the talking. Cotton breathes, which is what you want for a set you might wear for half a day rather than only overnight.
