Veri Shades
A curtain-blind hybrid. Free-hanging fabric vanes that rotate from open to private.
What it is
Veri Shades
Veri Shades are a proprietary hybrid: soft fabric vanes stitched onto a sheer backing, hung from a single top track. The vanes rotate to control light and privacy the way a vertical blind does, but there are no cords, no chains, and no hard plastic slats. Off the track they read like a soft curtain; on the track they behave like a blind. Operation is a hand pull to draw them across; a light turn of the leading vane rotates the whole run open or private.
The product is designed around sliding doors and family living spaces. Because the vanes are free-hanging with no bottom weight, they're safer around children and pets than a corded vertical or a heavy curtain.

The honest bit
Soft vanes move in a breeze, and that's the trade-off
Here's the honest limit. Veri Shades' free-hanging vanes are the whole reason the product feels soft: no bottom chain, no clip, no rigid track at the floor. That freedom is also why they move a little when a door opens and a breeze catches them, and why they don't seal a window the way a blockout curtain does. At a sliding door, where you actually want the softness and the easy pass-through, that's a feature. On a fully dark, fully still bedroom window, it isn't the right product, and a layered sheer plus blockout will always do that job better.
Where it works best
Sliding doors and family living rooms
Veri Shades were built for sliding doors and busy living rooms. The soft vane read suits family homes where children and pets rule out cords and hard slats, and the pass-through geometry means you can walk out to the deck without gathering a curtain or lifting a blind. They're at their best on wide openings where the alternative would be a stack of curtains eating the wall, and they sit in the room like a curtain rather than hardware. Save the bedroom for a layered sheer plus blockout.
Where it belongs
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
Who it suits
- Sliding doors onto decks and patios in family homes
- Living rooms where children and pets rule out cords and hard slats
- Wide openings where a soft-fabric read is wanted without a full curtain stack
- Renters and homes that need one clean product across a big opening
Who it doesn't
- Bedrooms needing a genuine dark room (choose a blockout curtain or layered sheer + blockout)
- Windows in draughty rooms where the vane movement will read as restless
- Small windows where the format is oversized for the opening
- Anyone wanting the sharper edge and formality of a curtain header
Questions Worth Asking
Frequently asked
How do Veri Shades work?
The vanes are attached to a sheer backing on the top track. A hand pull draws the whole run across the opening; a light turn of the leading vane rotates every vane in the run at once, from open (see-through) to private (opaque). There are no cords or chains to operate, and no bottom track or weight along the floor.
Are Veri Shades child and pet safe?
Cord-free operation and no rigid slats mean there's no cord loop and no slat to jam a small hand. The vanes push out of the way rather than resist, which is the reason they're so often specified for family homes with children and pets.
Veri Shades or a vertical blind?
Same idea, different feel. A vertical blind uses rigid plastic or fabric vanes on a chain-connected bottom weight; Veri Shades are soft, free-hanging, and read like a curtain. Verticals are more utilitarian and cheaper. Veri Shades cost more and look considerably softer in a residential room.
Can Veri Shades cover a whole wall of glass?
Yes. Long single runs are one of the strengths of the product because there's no stack of panels or full curtain body at either end. On very long spans we plan the top-track join and the pull position carefully at the measure.
