SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
Effective 16 September 2026.
Nothing in this document is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
THE ESSENTIALS
- Most pieces are made or brought in for you. Lead times are on each product page and are estimates, not promises.
- We ship Australia-wide, direct from the maker or their warehouse. Freight is calculated at checkout.
- Measure before you order. Doorways, hallways, stairs and lifts. A piece that will not fit is not a fault and cannot be returned.
- Inspect within 72 hours and tell us straight away if anything is damaged.
- Cancelling. Within 48 hours of ordering, and only if the goods have not already left the warehouse. See our Terms of Sale.
1. WHERE WE DELIVER
1.1 We deliver anywhere in Australia.
1.2 We do not ship internationally.
1.3 Some remote locations are served only to the nearest depot or to the property boundary. If that applies to your address we will tell you before despatch.
2. FREIGHT COSTS
2.1 Freight is calculated at checkout from the size, weight and destination of your order.
2.2 Where an order contains pieces from more than one maker, each ships separately and freight is calculated for each.
2.3 If delivery to your address would cost materially more than the freight charged at checkout, we will contact you before despatch. You may pay the difference or cancel the order for a full refund.
2.4 If you give us an incorrect address and the goods are returned to the carrier, you are responsible for the cost of redelivery.
3. LEAD TIMES
3.1 The lead time shown on each product page is our best estimate based on what the maker has told us. It is not a delivery date.
3.2 Once goods are ready, transit is usually 5 to 10 business days, longer to remote areas.
3.3 Delay happens in global freight. A disruption at an Australian wholesaler can add up to three to four months; an order from an overseas maker can, uncommonly, extend to six months or more. Part 5 of our Terms of Sale sets this out.
3.4 Where we learn of a material delay we will tell you, give you the revised estimate, and tell you again if it changes.
3.5 If you are working to a date that cannot move, tell us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether the piece is realistic.
4. CANCELLING AN ORDER
4.1 You may cancel your order and receive a full refund if both:
(a) you tell us within 48 hours of placing the order; and (b) the goods have not yet left the supplier's or maker's warehouse.
4.2 Once 48 hours have passed, the order cannot be cancelled. We have committed it to the maker or wholesaler and, for made-to-order pieces, production may have begun.
4.3 If the goods have already left the supplier's or maker's warehouse, the order cannot be cancelled even if fewer than 48 hours have passed. Goods in transit cannot be recalled and the freight has been paid.
4.4 Where you ask to cancel within the window, we will check with the supplier whether the goods have been despatched and tell you promptly.
4.5 Email hello@biku.com.au or telephone 1300 002 458. The time you send the email or make the call is the time of cancellation.
4.6 Full detail is in Part 4 of our Terms of Sale and Part 6 of our Warranty, Returns and Refunds policy.
5. MEASURING AND ACCESS
5.1 Measure the piece and the path. Before you order, measure the space and the route the piece has to travel: the gate, the front door, every doorway, the hallway including its turns, the stairwell and its landings, and the lift including its door opening, interior depth and the distance to the opposite wall.
5.2 Where the dimensions are. The width, depth and height of every piece are on its product page. Our measurements include overhangs, arms and outward curves, taken at the deepest and widest points. Allow up to 20mm for handmade tolerance.
5.3 Our measuring guide. We publish a step-by-step measuring guide and send it with your order confirmation.
5.4 Ask us. If you are unsure, book a complimentary consultation before you order and a designer will check the piece against your plan. It costs nothing and takes ten minutes.
5.5 Tell us about access. When you order we will ask about anything that could make delivery difficult: parking and truck access, time limits, gated entry, a narrow road or driveway, stairs, and lift access. Answer accurately. Our carriers plan the job from what you tell us.
5.6 A piece that will not fit is not a fault. If a piece cannot be brought into your home because it will not pass along the access route, that is not a defect. It is not covered by the consumer guarantees or by our additional warranty, and it is not a ground for return, refund or exchange.
5.7 Aborted deliveries. If the delivery team arrives and cannot complete the delivery because access is not as described, or the piece will not fit, the delivery will be aborted and you are responsible for the cost of that delivery and of any redelivery or return freight.
5.8 Weight. Some pieces weigh 200kg or more. Take that into account for your floor, your stairs and the handling at your end.
6. DELIVERY DAY
6.1 What is included. Delivery is to the ground floor entrance of your address. Carriers will not usually carry goods up stairs and will not do so where they judge it unsafe.
6.2 What is not included. Unless you have booked a service that says otherwise, delivery does not include assembly, placement in a room of your choice, or removal of packaging.
6.3 Before the team arrives. Clear the path. Move any furniture, artwork or lighting that is in the way. Put existing rugs in place. Confine pets to another room.
6.4 What the team cannot do. Delivery professionals are not permitted to move your existing furniture, to install or set up electrical equipment, or to take doors off hinges. A licensed electrician is required to install a pendant. A registered builder is required to hang a mirror or fix furniture to a wall.
6.5 Someone must be there. Deliveries require a signature unless you have given a written authority to leave. If nobody is available and no authority has been given, the goods return to the depot and you are responsible for redelivery and any storage charges.
6.6 Multiple deliveries. Where an order contains pieces from more than one maker, they will usually arrive separately and on different dates.
7. CHECKING YOUR DELIVERY
7.1 Unwrap and inspect every piece within 72 hours of delivery.
7.2 Report any transit damage, breakage or missing part to hello@biku.com.au within that 72 hours, with photographs of the damage, of the whole piece, and of the packaging including any carrier labels.
7.3 Keep the packaging until the claim is resolved. A carrier may need to inspect it.
7.4 Why the window exists: our carriers impose strict limits for damage claims, and after 72 hours we may be unable to recover from them.
7.5 This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If you discover damage after 72 hours that was present on delivery, tell us and we will consider the claim on its merits.
8. STORAGE
8.1 Most orders ship straight to you. Occasionally we hold goods, for example where you have asked us to wait until a renovation is finished, where a delivery has failed, or where several pieces are being consolidated.
8.2 Storage is free for 14 days from the date we tell you the goods are ready.
8.3 After 14 days, unless we have agreed a longer period in writing, storage is charged at $70 per week, per cubic metre of space occupied, or part thereof, calculated on the packaged dimensions. Charges accrue weekly and are payable before the goods are released.
8.4 If your project timeline means you need us to hold goods for longer, tell us and we will agree a period in writing.
8.5 Where goods remain uncollected and we cannot reach you, Part 8 of our Terms of Sale sets out what happens.
9. THINGS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL
9.1 We are not responsible for late or failed delivery caused by circumstances outside our control, including adverse weather, industrial action, road closures, carrier failure or natural disaster.
9.2 We will keep you informed and work with the carrier to resolve it.
