The base is the reason to choose this over a conventional coffee table. Rattan formed into a sculptural wave gives the piece an organic, flowing shape at floor level, which is where most tables are simply four legs and a gap.
Black is an unusual finish for reclaimed teak and rattan, and it changes the character considerably. Where a natural finish reads rustic, the dark tone pulls it towards something more contemporary and graphic, so it suits a modern room that still wants natural materials. At 100cm across it is genuinely large, so it needs a generous seating arrangement around it rather than a small lounge. The solid teak top gives you a hardwearing surface over a base that is mostly about form.
