The piece

The removable top is what makes this more than a coffee table. Underneath is an open woven body, so the whole piece doubles as concealed storage for throws, magazines or the things that otherwise live on the floor beside a sofa.
That also means it can change roles. With the top on it is a table; with the top off it is a basket; with a cushion on top it works as an ottoman. For a small living room where furniture has to earn its footprint twice over, that flexibility matters more than a dedicated piece would. Abaca sides bring real texture at eye level when you are seated, and the reclaimed teak top gives it a solid, hardwearing surface where you actually put things down.
