The piece
The detail behind the silhouette
Two materials with opposite characters is the whole idea. Teak is warm, grained and irregular; resin is cool, smooth and uniform. Putting them together in one piece makes each read more strongly than either would alone.
The restraint in the design is what makes that work. There is no detailing to distract from the material contrast, just a plain top on a fluid base, so the eye goes straight to the junction between the two. At 900mm square it is generously sized for a lounge setting, and the 360mm height suits deeper seating. Both materials handle outdoor conditions, though the combination reads modern enough that it works indoors in a contemporary room just as well.
