Layering is one of those design ideas that sounds obvious and turns out to be difficult. It means combining vintage and contemporary furniture, lighting, artwork, ornaments and accents with colour and pattern until a room has character rather than merely a scheme, and getting the balance wrong is easy.
This goes deeper into Natale's method than his previous books, working through eight residences from concept and inspiration to the finishes, furnishings and accessories. The examples include a modern palazzo on Brisbane River full of arches and gilt, so the projects are Australian rather than borrowed from northern hemisphere magazines. Anson Smart's photography carries the visual side. Useful whether you are planning a room or simply want a good book on a coffee table.

White glove delivery
Our two-person team carries your piece into the room of your choice, unpacks it, assembles it where needed and takes the packaging away.
Delivery price: one price per order, set by the largest service in it. Furniture and rugs come white glove, metro from $199, regional from $349. Mirrors, art and large decor or lighting come by room delivery, from $149: two people place them in your room, without hanging or installation. Lighting ships by courier from $49. Smaller decor ships by courier from $25, usually free on decor orders over $350. Some remote areas are quoted after you order.
In-stock pieces usually arrive in 2 to 4 weeks. Out-of-stock and made-to-order pieces can take up to 12 to 16 weeks. We'll confirm your timing and call to book your delivery.
Restricted access: stairs, tight corners, a long carry from the truck or no parking nearby add $79. Lifts are fine.
