Storm marble on dark oak is the low-light version of this table. Both materials sit dark, so the piece reads as a single mass rather than as stone resting on timber, and in a room with a pale floor that becomes a deliberate anchor at the centre of the seating.
Two different sealers are used and the distinction is worth knowing. Matt resin on the stone resists the staining that marble is prone to; a water-based sealer on the veneer keeps the timber grain visible rather than building a film over it. Each material gets the finish that suits it, which is more thought than most mixed-material tables receive. At 35cm high it sits low, which suits a deep sofa better than an upright one.
