A looped pile is the closed version of a cut pile: the tuft is left as a loop rather than sheared open. That single difference makes it harder wearing, less prone to shedding, and considerably less soft, which is the trade being made here.
The flat edge is what gives a loop rug its tailored look. Without a fringe the rug reads as a defined rectangle, so it will hold a furniture arrangement together more crisply than a fringed rug of the same size.
Loops and claws do not mix. A cat or a dog that catches a loop will pull a run right across the rug, and a pulled loop cannot be worked back in the way a cut tuft can.

Vacuum with the beater bar off. A rotating brush pulls loops and is the most common way a loop rug is damaged. Blot spills and clip, rather than pull, any loop that snags.

White glove delivery
Our two-person team carries your piece into the room of your choice, unpacks it, assembles it where needed and takes the packaging away.
Delivery price: one price per order, set by the largest service in it. Furniture and rugs come white glove, metro from $199, regional from $349. Mirrors, art and large decor or lighting come by room delivery, from $149: two people place them in your room, without hanging or installation. Lighting ships by courier from $49. Smaller decor ships by courier from $25, usually free on decor orders over $350. Some remote areas are quoted after you order.
In-stock pieces usually arrive in 2 to 4 weeks. Out-of-stock and made-to-order pieces can take up to 12 to 16 weeks. We'll confirm your timing and call to book your delivery.
Restricted access: stairs, tight corners, a long carry from the truck or no parking nearby add $79. Lifts are fine.
