The Lya Ceramic Pot comes in two sizes, 15cm and 20cm square, in a cream glaze. Both have a drainage hole and a matching saucer. The body is short and wide rather than tall.

A drainage hole and a saucer together are what separate a planter from a decorative cover, and it is worth checking for both. A hole without a saucer marks the furniture; a saucer without a hole does nothing. Having them as a pair means a plant can be potted directly into this rather than left in its nursery container.

The short, wide proportion suits plants that spread rather than climb. Herbs, small ferns and anything that fills outward will meet the rim and soften it, where a tall single stem in a low pot looks unsupported.

Cream is a more forgiving colour than white for a pot that will actually be used. Soil marks and water spotting sit within a warm off-white in a way they do not against a cool bright one.
