Leon Round Dining Table

The Leon Round Dining Table has a painted ash veneer top with a full bullnose edge, 30mm thick, on a carved pillar base 620mm across. The underside of the top sits at 715mm and the top overhangs the base by 420mm. It arrives knock-down.
The overhang is the number that decides how many people fit. At 420mm of top beyond the base on every side, a chair can be pulled in anywhere around the circumference without meeting the pedestal, which is the whole argument for a pillar base over legs on a round table.
A 715mm underside is slightly lower than a four-legged table of the same overall height, because there is no apron to duck. That is a real gain in legroom for anyone tall, and it is the figure to check against a dining chair with arms, since the arm height is what decides whether the chair slides under.
A painted veneer rather than a stained one is a specific choice on a carved base. Paint fills and unifies the carving so the column reads as a single sculpted form; a stain would emphasise the grain running through the carving and fight the shape.
