The Lap Mirror is 66cm wide, 7cm deep and 156cm high, in a timber frame with an oak finish. A half-lap joint at each corner gives the frame its gridded, architectural look. It can hang vertically or horizontally.

The piece
The detail behind the silhouette
A half-lap joint is a visible piece of joinery rather than a hidden one. Each rail is notched to half its thickness so the two cross and sit flush, which leaves a square of end grain showing at every corner. That is the detail the design is built around, and it is why the frame reads as constructed rather than moulded.
The front edge is softly rounded against that hard structure, which is the contrast worth looking for in person. Sharp joinery with a soft arris is a considered combination and it is what stops the piece feeling like a window frame.
Hanging it horizontally is a genuine option rather than a note. At 156cm across, laid on its side above a sideboard or a bed, it does something completely different from the same mirror standing up, and the joint detail reads equally well either way.
