The dBodhi Kupu-kupu Coffee Table Ellipse has a curved elliptical top in reclaimed teak on cantilevered solid teak legs. A butterfly-shaped iron bar with dove-coated iron plates connects the base. It measures 140 x 70cm.

The piece
The detail behind the silhouette
Kupu-kupu means butterfly, and the name comes from the iron bar joining the legs beneath the table. It is a structural component made into a decorative one, which is the sort of detail you only notice on the second or third look.
An ellipse is a more forgiving shape than a rectangle in a living room. There are no corners at shin height, and the curve lets people move around it easily in a space where seating is close. Cantilevered legs mean the supports are set in from the ends rather than at the corners, which leaves the ends of the table free and makes the top appear to float. At 40cm it sits low, suited to a deep sofa rather than upright seating.
