Kishu Binchotan Charcoal Refill
The Kishu Binchotan Charcoal Refill is a single stick of Japanese white charcoal, approximately 18cm long and 1.5cm in diameter, for filtering a bottle of tap water. Made from hard Japanese Holm oak, it turns ordinary tap water into a daily supply of filtered, mineral rich water. Allow roughly one month of mineralising capacity and three months of purifying capacity per stick.

The detail behind the silhouette
Water moving through the cavities in binchotan is doing much what water does underground on the way to a spring, picking up minerals and shedding what it does not need. Added chlorine drops by as much as 75 per cent, while potassium and magnesium go the other way.
This is the replacement stick for anyone already using a binchotan bottle. Worth keeping one in the cupboard, because the gap between fresh charcoal and spent charcoal is obvious once your palate has adjusted to the difference.

Note: Frees tap water of up to 75% of added chlorine and adds minerals including potassium and magnesium
On first use, rinse the stick under cold running water and boil it for five minutes from cold to sterilise it and clear any ash. Remove from the heat, drain, and let it dry and cool in the pan. Slide it into a bottle of cold tap water with the bottle held almost horizontal, since dropping it straight in can snap it, then cool for at least two hours before drinking, preferably overnight. Boil it for one minute once a week to keep it fresh and fully active. Between uses, dry it and keep it in a container or plastic bag.

Our two-person team carries your piece into the room of your choice, unpacks it, assembles it where needed and takes the packaging away.
Delivery price: one price per order, set by the largest service in it. Furniture and rugs come white glove, metro from $199, regional from $349. Mirrors, art and large decor or lighting come by room delivery, from $149: two people place them in your room, without hanging or installation. Lighting ships by courier from $49. Smaller decor ships by courier from $25, usually free on decor orders over $350. Some remote areas are quoted after you order.
In-stock pieces usually arrive in 2 to 4 weeks. Out-of-stock and made-to-order pieces can take up to 12 to 16 weeks. We'll confirm your timing and call to book your delivery.
Restricted access: stairs, tight corners, a long carry from the truck or no parking nearby add $79. Lifts are fine.
