The Huxley Curve Dining Table is 3000mm long, 1000mm deep and 760mm high, with a 20mm black oak veneer top on a solid oak base. The legs are tapered and set 2850mm apart. It weighs 56kg.

The distance between the legs is the number that makes a three-metre table usable rather than merely large. At 2850mm the legs sit close to the ends, so the entire length between them is clear floor and chairs can be placed anywhere along both sides without anybody straddling a leg.

Curved corners on a rectangular table are doing something specific in a room this size. A square corner at three metres is a genuine hazard in a walkway and reads as severe; softening it takes the edge off both problems without turning the table into an oval.

Black oak over a solid oak base is the right way round structurally. The base takes the load and the racking, and solid timber is what handles that; the top only has to stay flat, which a 20mm veneer does more reliably across three metres than a solid slab.
