The detail behind the silhouette
A 20mm stone top is thin, and on a table just over a metre across that thinness is the whole point. Thicker marble would give you a slab; at 20mm the top reads as a plane laid across the legs, which is what keeps a heavy material feeling light in the middle of a room.
Two hundred and forty millimetres of clearance is low, so this suits a deep sofa and will look stranded beside an upright one. It also means the space underneath takes a tray or a flat stack of books rather than a basket. Each material gets its own sealer, matt resin on the stone and PU on the veneer, which is more consideration than most mixed-material tables receive. Two people to seat the top on arrival.
