The Eleanor Dining Chair is upholstered head to foot in a soft seashell polyester, legs included, with a rounded backrest and a 460mm seat height. The fabric is tested to 30,000 on the Martindale abrasion scale. It arrives assembled.

Fully upholstered legs are a commitment. They make the chair read as a single soft form, which is the point, but there is no timber or metal down there to take the knocks that dining chairs inevitably take from vacuum cleaners and table legs. Worth knowing before you buy six.

What you get in return is comfort that most dining chairs skip. The seat is foam filled and generous, the back is curved to meet your shoulder blades rather than sitting flat, and it rises 350mm above the seat, which is support for a long meal without turning into a wingback. Seashell is a soft neutral, so it will sit against most table timbers without a fight. Covers are not removable, so spot cleaning is the method.
