The dBodhi Catterpillar Twin Chair in charcoal has a handwoven abaca seat on a reclaimed teak frame finished in an eco-friendly charcoal treatment. It stands 75cm high. The dark frame throws the pale woven fibre into contrast.

Darkening the frame changes this chair completely compared with the natural version. Against charcoal timber the abaca weave reads much lighter, so the seat becomes the thing you notice rather than the timber, and the contour of the frame reads as a drawn line instead of a solid mass.

That makes it a better fit for a room with strong contrasts already in it, where a natural teak chair would blend into the background. The abaca is unchanged: a banana-family fibre, tough and moisture-resistant, which is why it holds up as seating where softer weaves sag. The charcoal finish is applied as an eco-friendly treatment rather than a conventional paint, so the grain still shows through rather than being sealed under a flat coat.
