The detail behind the silhouette
Matt dark oak is the finish for a hallway that needs grounding. Against a pale wall the console reads as a horizontal line rather than as a piece of furniture, which is what you want in a passage where anything bulky becomes an obstacle both visually and physically.
The chamfer on the oval top is a quiet detail with a real effect. Angling the edge catches the light differently along the curve, so the top looks thinner and the oval reads more clearly as a shape rather than as a rounded rectangle. Between the two widths, the 100cm suits a genuinely narrow entry, while the 140cm has enough length to carry a lamp at one end and still leave the middle clear.
