Bincho Glass Bottle
The Bincho Glass Bottle is a 1L glass water bottle supplied with a handcrafted stick of Kishu Binchotan charcoal from Japan. The charcoal softens tap water and frees it of up to 75% of added chlorine while enriching it with minerals such as potassium and magnesium. The bottle stands 26.2cm tall including the stopper and measures 8.9cm in diameter.

The detail behind the silhouette
This is a slow, undramatic piece of kitchen equipment. You fill the bottle, leave it in the fridge overnight, and the water tastes different in the morning, softer and without the chlorine edge that comes off some town supplies.
What does the work is white charcoal, fired in Japan and riddled with microcavities that the water has to travel through. The stick stays active for one to three months of daily use, and when it finally gives up you can crush it into potting soil as fertiliser instead of binning it. The bottle is glass and dishwasher proof, so the only real routine is remembering to refill it.

Before first use, rinse the Kishu Binchotan under cold running water, then boil it for five minutes from cold to sterilise it and remove any ash residue. Take it off the heat, drain, and let it dry and cool in the pan. Fill the bottle with cold tap water and slide the charcoal in with the bottle held almost horizontal so it does not break, then refrigerate for at least two hours before serving. For daily use, refill whenever you like and leave it at least two hours, preferably overnight. The glass bottle is dishwasher proof. Dry the charcoal and store it in a container or plastic bag when it is not in use. Once it is spent, crush it and mix it through potting soil, where it feeds plants and helps regulate pH.

Our two-person team carries your piece into the room of your choice, unpacks it, assembles it where needed and takes the packaging away.
Delivery price: one price per order, set by the largest service in it. Furniture and rugs come white glove, metro from $199, regional from $349. Mirrors, art and large decor or lighting come by room delivery, from $149: two people place them in your room, without hanging or installation. Lighting ships by courier from $49. Smaller decor ships by courier from $25, usually free on decor orders over $350. Some remote areas are quoted after you order.
In-stock pieces usually arrive in 2 to 4 weeks. Out-of-stock and made-to-order pieces can take up to 12 to 16 weeks. We'll confirm your timing and call to book your delivery.
Restricted access: stairs, tight corners, a long carry from the truck or no parking nearby add $79. Lifts are fine.
