The Benjamin Ripple Oval Dining Table is 2.2 metres of timber in Putty, carried on two rippled pillar bases. The ripple is cut into the pillars themselves, so the texture is structural rather than a surface treatment. It stands 760mm high.

Oval is the shape people forget to consider. It seats like a rectangle but loses the corners, which makes a room feel less boxed in and means nobody is stuck sitting at a hard point.

The bases are where the design effort went. Rippled pillars catch light along their length, so the table reads differently through the day as the light moves, and the texture gives a large piece of timber some visual rhythm. Two pillars rather than four legs also means chairs slide in anywhere along the sides, which matters at 2.2 metres, where a corner leg would strand somebody.
