The detail behind the silhouette
Smoky charcoal is a different proposition from black. There is brown sitting underneath it, so the rug reads as a shadow on the floor rather than as a hard graphic block, and it will sit with warm timber where a true black fights it.
A dark rug in a small size does something a large one cannot. It draws a corner of a room together and gives a chair or a bed a defined base, which is a use for a rug quite separate from covering a floor.
Distressed wool at low pile is about as robust as a natural-fibre rug gets. The surface has already been abraded in finishing, so ordinary wear adds very little to what is there, and it will look much the same in five years as on the day it arrives.
Material: 100% New Zealand wool
Construction: Handcrafted with a low pile and short fringe
Design: Lightly distressed with a mottled, vintage-inspired texture
Colour: Peat, a soft charcoal
Handcrafted: Yes
Vacuum with the beater bar off and keep the head clear of the fringe. Blot spills rather than rubbing. Professional wool cleaning rather than wet-washing.
