The detail behind the silhouette
A charger is the plate that never holds food. It stays on the table underneath the dinner plate, marking each place and giving the setting a layer of depth, then it is cleared with everything else.
That makes it the most decorative piece in a collection and the easiest to skip, which is fair enough for everyday meals. Where it earns its place is a dinner party, where a layered setting reads as effort without anyone having to fold napkins into shapes. The black line repeating from charger to plate to cup is the point of buying into a collection like this, since the same mark at three diameters creates a rhythm down the table. Fine bone porcelain, so it matches the rest of the range exactly in tone.
