The Artie Wave Side Table in Twilight is ash veneer with a bullnose profile on an abstract pillar base. It measures 42cm square and 48cm high, sealed with PU. The dark tone makes the form read as silhouette.

A dark finish changes what a sculptural base does. In a pale timber the wave reads as grain and shadow; in twilight it reads as an outline, a shape cut against whatever is behind it. That is the stronger effect and the harder one to place.

The bullnose profile on the top edge is worth noting on a piece this small, because the edge is most of what you see and touch. Rounding it removes the only hard line on an otherwise curved object. A PU sealer is the tougher of the finishes used across this range, which suits a side table that will take drinks. Put it where light falls across the base rather than flat onto it.
