Texture on an outdoor table earns its place. A flat surface outside shows dust, pollen and water marks within a day of being cleaned; a rippled one hides all three and reads as intentional rather than neglected.
At 90cm square this is a generous coffee table, and square is the right shape when an outdoor seating group has chairs on more than two sides. At 34cm it sits low, which is correct in front of a deep outdoor sofa.
The caveat is that a textured surface is harder to wipe than a smooth one. A cloth skates over the high points, so a brush is the tool when something has dried onto it.
