The Jelani Woven Dining Chair sets a handwoven rattan seat and backrest into a solid teak frame, measuring 50 x 50 x 88cm. The rattan carries a mild satin varnish while the timber is left raw. Seat height runs from 46cm to 48cm.

Woven seating breathes, which counts for more than it sounds like in an Australian summer. Rattan does not hold heat the way a padded dining chair does, so a long lunch stays comfortable well past the point where you would otherwise be shifting about.

At 88cm the back is tall, giving the chair real presence around a table while staying visually light, because you can see straight through the weave. It is fine in a sunroom or under a covered deck, though full exposure to sun and rain will shorten its life considerably.
